Victorian Marvel: Jule Körner's architectural masterpiece remains one of North Carolina's most unique homes.
This 22-room Victorian mansion features seven levels, 15 fireplaces, and no two rooms alike. Built as Körner's private residence and theater, it showcases the creativity and prosperity of late 19th-century Kernersville. Now a house museum, it welcomes thousands of visitors annually.
Transportation Hub: The railway station that connected Kernersville to the wider world and fueled economic growth.
Built when the North Western North Carolina Railroad reached Kernersville, this depot became the town's lifeline to markets and opportunities. Passengers and freight moved through here for decades, making it central to the town's commercial development and social life.
Sacred Ground: A pre-Civil War African American burial ground that honors our community's diverse heritage.
This historic cemetery serves as a testament to the African American families who were part of Kernersville's story from its earliest days. The weathered headstones and family plots remind us that our town's history includes people of all backgrounds and their contributions to our community.
Where It All Began: The original crossroads tavern that marked the birth of our community.
Though the original tavern is gone, the crossroads where Dobson's Tavern once stood remains the heart of downtown Kernersville. This intersection of early trade routes became the nucleus around which our entire community grew, making it our most historically significant location.
Commercial Heart: The collection of early 20th-century buildings that formed Kernersville's business center.
The historic downtown area features buildings from the early 1900s that housed general stores, banks, barbershops, and other businesses essential to small-town life. Many of these structures continue to serve the community, bridging past and present.

The historic churches of Kernersville have served as more than places of worship—they've been community centers, meeting places, and sources of social support. Their architecture and continuing presence reflect the enduring importance of faith in our town's identity.
